Business Department Policy

It is the philosophy and goal of the Business Department of High Point Regional High School to prepare students for the working world.  The primary purpose of the policy is to promote self-discipline in each student, so that he/she can work indepedently and cooperatively in the field of business

It is also our desire to teach students business etiquette and life skills, in addition to a strong background in the subject matter of each business course.

1.  No gum chewing is permitted in any of the “skill subject” classes; i.e.,
computer applications, and all keyboarding classes.  Gum chewing in other
business classes is at the discretion of the subject teacher.

2. All hard-cover books loaned to students will be covered.  No writing in
texts.  (This includes texts at work-stations.)

3. Students are not to put feet on desks or other furniture, or write on
desks.

4. Punctuality is stressed in every business class.  Action for tardiness is
mandated by school policy, requiring names of students who are late to
class, to be put on the cut slip.

5. Good attendance is URGED in all our classes, with the goal for each
student to have better attendance than the current school policy permits.

6. A business-like atmosphere takes place in each class, where the goal is
mutual respects between the teacher and the student.

7. No food is permitted in any business class, unless it is organized and
sanctioned by the teacher; e.g., office party, class treat, or prizes for a
classroom activity.  UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, ARE BEVERAGES TO BE PLACED NEAR
COMPUTERS!
