Definition and Description of Alchemy Student defines and describes the ultimate goal of alchemy in both broad, general terms, as well as in detail . Details should include examples of the types of things an alchemist might do on a given day. Student gives a vague idea about the goal of alchemy, but does not include specific examples of what an alchemist does. Student does not clearly define alchemy, gives a general description of a day in the life of an alchemist.
Description of Alchemist's Laboratory Student creates a vivid picture of the alchemist's laboratory in the reader's mind by using specific details. Student describes an alchemist's lab with vague, sketchy images. Student's description of an alchemist's lab is inaccurate.
History of Alchemy Student gives an overview of the history of alchemy. This overview includes the following three details: how long alchemy has been practiced, where it has been practiced, and who has practiced it. Student talks generally about the history of alchemy, including a combination of two of the following (not all three): how long alchemy has been practiced, where it has been practiced, and who has practiced it. Student only talks about how long alchemy has been practiced OR where it has been practiced OR who has practiced it.
Making Connections Student speculates about at least two other fields to which alchemy is related. Student only speculates about one other field to which alchemy is related. Student makes an inappropriate connection between alchemy and other fields.
Personal Legend Connection Student clearly explains how alchemy and Personal Legends are connected, and speculates about why an alchemist knows something about following one's Personal Legend. Student shows a vague understanding of the connection between alchemy and Personal Legends, but does not speculate about why an alchemist would know about Personal Legends. Student does not show an understanding of the connection between alchemy and Personal Legends.
Time Management Student was productive and used his or her time very well, completing the assignment within the time allotted. Student completed the assignment within the time allotted, but needed continual reminds to stay on task. Student was disruptive during the time allotted and did not complete the entire assignment by the end of class.
