High Point Regional - Local Scholar ship Application The deadline for the 2011 Local Scholarship Application has passed. The 2012 Local Scholarship will become available in January 2012. We will notify you in the fall/winter on when we will run this again. Good luck to all our Seniors!

The scholarship process requires time, work, and dedication on the part of you and your parents as well as school personnel. Many times those who are the most organized and the most diligent with the application process are the ones who receive scholarships! You and/or your parents have the responsibility for:
  • Investigating scholarships via printed books/publications in your guidance office. You may freely access the scholarship files in the guidance counseling office and bulletin board displays;
  • Reading the Guidance Newsletter carefully and saving them for references for scholarship deadlines;
  • Noting deadlines, procedures and qualifications if applicable. When the applications complete, review it with your guidance counselor before mailing. Applications should be mailed at least one week before the scholarship deadline;
  • Investigating possible scholarship opportunities available via your parents' employment, the college or university you will attend, community organizations, and other sources.
Here are some tips that may help you in your scholarship search:
  1. Fill out the FAFSA as early as possible. You may find the forms in your counselor's office.
  2. Check with your parent's employer to see if there are any scholarships available for the daughters or sons of employees.
  3. If you have a job check with your employer to see if scholarships are available.
  4. If you are a member of a religious organization check availability of scholarships.
  5. If your parents are members of any organizations check to see if they offer scholarships.
  6. Every scholarship that is sent to the guidance office is filed in a specific place. Check the office at least once a week. Here is a current list of scholarships currently in the guidance office.
  7. The guidance office also has books which list available scholarships. Look through these books before or after school.
  8. Check with the financial aid office at the school you will attend to see what scholarships they may have.
  9. There are computers in the library and the guidance office that have programs which can help you search for scholarships. Ask for assistance with this search or click here for websites.
