Introduction Message
I have grown up in Sussex County for most of my life. I lived in Vernon, NJ where I went to school until the 8th grade. I decided to learn to become an Electrician at the Sussex County Vocational Technical School. I was a member of National Honors Society, and captain of the Bowling Team. When I graduated from High School in 1994, (without missing a single day of school) I wanted to further my education in electricity, and go to college. I decided to leave Sussex County for college, but not because I don't like it here, but because SCCC didn't offer Electrical Engineering classes. I ended up in Newark, NJ, at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. I guess you could say that my life in Newark was a little different from the Vernon/Sussex County lifestyle. I helped start the 1st NJIT mens swim team there. I was also very active on campus with other campus clubs while working 2 or three jobs at a time. I graduated in January 2000, and at this point decided that Electrical Engineering wasn't my calling, but I always wanted to teach. A collegue of mine told me about the Alternate Route Method of becoming a teacher so 6 months later I found myself at High Point High School teaching Math filling in for Mrs. Riegal a teacher who was on maternity leave, but now is back in the classroom. .I honestly come to work each and every day, and I love what I do, so much so that now 6 years later I still haven't missed a single day of school yet (knock on wood).
In my spare time I teach
CPR/ Lifeguarding for the Red Cross, I am studying to become a swimming
official, I am persuing my masters degree, and I spend time with my family.
My hobbies include: swimming, snowboarding, bike riding, camping, watching
all kinds of movies, watching the Yankees, woodworking, and learning to
build my own house.

Mission Statement
The mathematics department of High Point Regional High School will offer
a comprehensive curriculum aligned with national and State standards that
prepares all students to fully participate as citizens in the 21st century.
Students will be prepared to meet the state graduation requirements and
will have the mathematical background necessary to enter the workforce,
college or trade school. Different learning styles will be addressed so
that all students are successful learners. Students will explore, make
and test conjectures and develop a true understanding of mathematical concepts.
Critical thinking, problem solving and the ability to communicate mathematics
will be emphasized, using technology as a tool to enhance learning. Students
will develop an awareness of and appreciation for the empowering role mathematics
plays in our society.
Extra Curricular Involvements
I believe that getting involved in what my students do outside the classroom is very important to them. You will see me very often at a sporting event cheering on the team and possibly getting the wave started. I make a consious effort to go to at least one event of every sport of every level from Freshman to Varsity.
I currently am a volunteer advisor for Peer Counseling. Peer Counseling is a program open to all juniors and seniors and staff of the High Point Regional High School Community. We meet together as a group to learn more about human relationships, communication skills and leadership skills. By using the process of group dynamics and experiential learning in a series of sessions, we discover a better understanding of others and ourselves. We learn to reach out to others with caring and respect for the individuality of each other. Improved skills in communication such as listening, questioning and empathy, foster better relationships and contribute to a positive environment within this high school community.
I have been part of the TNT (Teaching New Teachers) mentoring program. It is a program designed to assist teacher new to the Hight Point Community with the trial and tribulations of their first year.
In the past I have been an assistant coach as well as a head coach for
boys and girls swimming, the Student Council Advisor for a Middle School,
a member of the Attendance Committee, a volunteer for every school dance,
a volunteer for project graduation, and many other clubs and organizations
outside of School.
