Professional development of all school staff members is essential for a
successful learning experience for all students. Effective staff
development focuses on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required of
teachers, administrators, and other school employees so that all
students can learn and perform at high levels. The High Point
Professional Development Academy has been created to provide
professionals with the skills and support necessary to improve learning
opportunities for students, to give teachers time and opportunities
for collegial support and sharing, and to help develop leaders in our
school, in both formal and informal roles, who can increase the quality
of education we provide our students. Staff members are encouraged to
attend courses and workshops that will reinforce their current
knowledge and skill base and that will stretch and challenge them to
grow in new areas. Educators are also encouraged to offer courses that
highlight their areas of expertise, sharing with their colleagues and
introducing new ideas, practices, and strategies. Continuous learning
and professional growth helps all of us to pursue our goal of giving
our students the best possible educational experience and preparation
for their futures.
